For many of us making a lifestyle change can seem like a daunting task at first. It can take some time before we see the results we want. Patience and mental focus is key to achieving our fitness and nutritional goals. By practicing some simple steps daily we can get satisfaction by achieving small goals on our way toward the bigger picture.

Juice It. We all know that fruits and vegetables are good for us and we’re probably not eating as much as we should. Take a break from the morning coffee routine and shop around for a juicer. A good juicer will allow you to condense pounds of produce into a great tasting on-the-go meal. The nutrients and fiber in the juice will help your body to perform better during the day and sleep better at night. Over time you’ll have more energy to perform your workouts.

Avocado Alley. Many of us are carrying around dangerously high bodyfat percentages. We need fat in our diet. The problem is we’re consuming huge amounts of saturated fat that lead to heart disease. Replace the butter, margarine and oils with avocado. Avocados taste great and provide healthier monounsaturated fats.

Park it. Next time you’re out shopping park your vehicle farther from the building. This will allow you to burn calories and achieve those 10,000 steps quicker. Not to mention you’ll workout those arms and shoulders when carrying those bags from the store.

Farms over Pharmacies. Make it a point to hit the farmer’s market on a regular basis. That’s where you’ll find the freshest produce. You also support your local farmer and get to know where your food is coming from. That’s something increasingly challenging these days. The colors and scents alone make it easier to appreciate the benefits of fruits and vegetables.

Get off the treadmill. We all know the routine. Walk into any gym and you’ll see the treadmills all occupied. It’s the easiest machine in the gym to use. Just hit the start button and walk for an hour. The problem is you won’t see much progress. It’s great to break a sweat but the body will get used to the exercise quickly. Try performing HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) instead. In 20 minutes you’ll burn way more calories, work more muscles and see progress in a much shorter time. Exercises like push-ups, box jumps, step-ups and battle ropes can all be implemented into a routine.

Consistency is what separates success from tough lessons. Add these changes to your routine today. On your mark…get set…go!
