Autoimmune diseases such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis, Crohn’s disease, lupus and celiac disease are usually a result of chronic inflammation. An autoimmune disease is when our immune systems attack its own cells in order to preserve the body.
Gluten sensitivity has been getting a lot of attention in mainstream media recently. Truth is, wheat has always been an inflammatory toxin to humans. It causes gut issues. We don’t have the enzymes to digest wheat and other common foods completely. These foods tear the lining of our gut. This is known as intestinal permeability or leaky gut syndrome. Our genetics usually determine which organ will be affected but when the body decides to accelerate the cleaning process, inflammation will occur. Some of us heal when the gut tears but at some point the healing stops. For many of us the tears get worse as we age. Others may start to see or feel symptoms after a traumatic experience. Wheat, dairy, alcohol, dead animals, soy and yeast are the most common ingredients that promote inflammation.
Antibodies, our body’s waste collection system, constantly get rid of damaged or dead cells in our bloodstream. The pesticides, food additives, gmo components and other toxins we eat bind to healthy cells in our blood. The body can no longer recognize these cells so antibodies attack them. The more toxins we consume, the more antibodies the body produces to try and protect us. Elevated levels of antibodies translate into the body killing more cells than it’s making. The system in your body with the highest levels of antibodies will begin to break down. The symptoms of that particular damaged organ will become more noticeable. This is our immune system trying to fix the problem.
What’s the best way to cure acute or chronic inflammation? Raw, fresh, leafy green vegetables, ripe fruits, raw nuts, sprouts and seeds contain the nutrients our bodies need to avoid inflammation.
